Canterbury counselling -Helping you to make sense of your world

Are you searching for counsellors in Canterbury? With over 20 years experience counselling people affected by cancer and the bereaved, as a Canterbury counsellor, I will work with you to help navigate life’s challenges. I am very aware that it takes a great leap of faith to invest in a complete stranger and discuss your inner world, but together, we can help you find a way to cope with whatever life throws your way.

I currently work as a counsellor with traumatic loss - this includes the death of a baby or child, suicide, road traffic accident and death from Covid 19. These losses are difficult to bear at the best of times, but have been made significantly more difficult during the pandemic. Whilst counselling cannot take away your pain, I will help you to find coping strategies to help you to live with your loss.

I am also a qualified clinical supervisor with a Level 6 Diploma and can help both trainee counsellors and trained counsellors with their work in supporting others. Simply get in touch to find out more about me and whether I am the right person to support you. I have significant experience in training both teachers and healthcare professionals in the area of bereavement, grief and loss - something that affects each and every one of us throughout our lives.

“I have no words, except thank you for your incredible help”

Male, 40’s

“My gratitude will always be with you Russ. You spent so much time and showed me the way to lead a life which is now full and happy and so worth living”

Female, 70’s

“Dear Russ, thank you so much for the valued time you gave in providing me with the therapy needed. I will never forget it. “Always do to others as you would expect to be treated”. My mum said this to me as a small child, our relationship is thriving well. Kindest and warmest regards”

Female, 40’s

“On behalf of myself and my family, thank you very much for your kindness and being so thoughtful. We do appreciate everything you have done for me.”

Female, 50’s

“Once again, thanks very much. Thinking about it over the weekend and it's interesting what comes out. Well done on getting me to realise feelings I wasn't even aware of”

Male, 30’s

“Russ helped us to see that we are justified in the way we feel and that something like this is so devastating that we are allowed to feel emotions that we hadn’t felt before.

He has helped us through some really tough days.  There were days where we couldn’t get out of bed, there was no light at the end of the tunnel.  Not only had we lost our daughter, but we were also dealing with the trauma of her birth”.

Couple, 30’s

I always felt very supported by you. Whenever I would meet with you, I always came away feeling like I had learnt something!

Clinical Supervisee
